How to use PackPlan
Six steps from empty account to a ready, shareable pack plan.
-
1. Create an account
Sign-up takes 20 seconds — email, username, password. No card, no phone verification. Once signed up you land in the dashboard with an empty pack.
-
2. Create a pack
A pack is a gear list for a specific trip. Each one has a name ("Sarek 2025", "Tatras winter"), season (spring / summer / autumn / winter / all-season) and trip type. Run as many packs in parallel as you like.
-
3. Add gear from the library
The Library is a curated gear database — tents, sleeping bags, packs, stoves, clothing — with verified weights and shop links. Click "+ Add to pack" and the item lands in the right category. Missing something? Add your own gear with any weight.
-
4. Mark "worn" and "food / fuel"
Gear worn on the body (headlamp, hiking clothes, boots) — tap the circle icon. Food, water, fuel — tap the freeze-dried-meal icon. PackPlan recalculates base weight instantly: that is what you actually carry through the entire trip regardless of the day.
-
5. Read the four weight cards
Total = everything together. Base = without worn and consumable. Worn = on you. Food / fuel = what depletes during the trip. Ultralight target is around 4.5 kg base weight, lightweight up to 9 kg; most hikers pack 9-14 kg.
-
6. Share
Mark the pack as „public" and you get a unique sharing link plus a ready-made OG image for Facebook / Instagram / blog. You can un-publish anytime — the link stops working, the pack returns to private.
